    EDUCATION

    Liz Vecenie, LCSW, attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA and graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Psychology . She received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008.

    CREDENTIALS/PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

    Liz is a licensed clinical social worker. Prior to joining Allegheny Mental Health Associates, she worked as a social worker at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) from 2008-2011. Liz worked at the Pediatric Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Clinic at WPIC and then transitioned to working at the Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program at Western Psychiatric. 

    SPECIAL INTERESTS

    Treatment of obsessive-compulsive and other anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment disorders, and depression in children and adolescents.  Liz is certified by the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation Behavior Therapy Training Institute to utilize exposure with response prevention therapy to treat OCD. Clinical areas of interest include: exposure with response prevention therapy, cognitive behavior therapy skills, elements of dialectical behavior therapy, and exploring other interventions that may be a good fit for the client. 

    MOST IMPORTANT CAREER MOMENTS

    Deciding to join AMHA in 2011. Additionally, Liz worked with Amy DeMario, LCSW to develop and implement the Pediatric Outpatient Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Group Program at AMHA. Liz’s time in group is spent teaching participants exposure with response prevention skills and cognitive behavior skills to better manage OCD symptoms. 

    THINGS YOU WOULD FIND ME DOING ON THE WEEKENDS

    Spending time with friends and family, reading, watching movies, exploring hiking trails with her dog, and other outdoor activities.
