    FAQs

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can request an appointment by calling the Intake Coordinators at 412-967-5660 extension 1 or by emailing [email protected]. Our Intake Coordinators will call you to discuss the reason for your call and to determine whether we are able to  match you with a therapist that best fits your needs.

    Can you bill my insurance?

We accept most major insurances. Our Intake Coordinators will speak with you to make sure you are matched with a provider that is able to accept your insurance. We will then check your insurance benefits to learn about your coverage. We do accept out-of-pocket payment as well. Call our Intake Coordinators if you would like more information about out-of-pocket fees.

What should I expect from my first appointment?

The first appointment is an opportunity for you to share the reason for seeking counseling and what you hope to accomplish during your time in therapy.  Among many topics, the therapist will spend time going over current symptoms, family dynamics, employment history, relationship status, educational background, stressors, strengths, medical and psychiatric history.

    What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is a therapy service that is provided through a live video connection, over the internet. We work to provide you with the same treatment that you would receive in person, however appointments are done through video. Our practice began utilizing teletherapy during the COVID-19 pandemic to allow our clients to receive services from the comfort and safety of their home. We continue to offer teletherapy services today.

Does my insurance cover the cost of teletherapy?

Everyone’s insurance plan is different. Please call your insurance provider to verify your coverage and costs for teletherapy sessions.

What do I need to be able to do teletherapy?

You need an internet capable device such as a computer, laptop, tablet, or phone with a camera.  AMHA uses a HIPAA compliant video platform, which ensures the safety of your sessions with your therapist.  The details of how to log in will be discussed once your appointment is scheduled.
