    EDUCATION

    Kim Weiner, Ph.D. received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Buffalo and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also has a Masters in Music degree from SUNY Stonybrook. She completed an APA accredited internship from the Counseling and Psychological Services at Penn State University

    CREDENTIALS/PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

    Dr. Weiner has specialized in working with the developmental and mental health issues of adults. Until recently, she worked at the Indiana University of PA Counseling Center, where she saw a diverse range of clients with varying problems and issues, including depression and anxiety disorders, assault and trauma, grief, gender identity, and disordered eating, among others.

    Before her career in College Counseling, she also worked as a Clinical Specialist in the Anxiety Disorders Center at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. During her tenure at IUP, Dr. Weiner served 9 years as the Department Chair, individually supervised doctoral students from the Psychology Department, and was integrally involved in campus mental health programs, training and research.

    SPECIAL INTERESTS

    Special interests include treatment of anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, relationship issues, grief and trauma, and life changes and adjustment. Additional interests include LBGTQI, and the culturally and racially diverse. Areas of clinical interest are mindfulness-based approaches, ACT, Coherence Therapy, Internal Family Systems, developmental and attachment-based therapies, and supervision.

    Personal Statement

    I am a licensed psychologist with over 30 yrs of experience working with adults (18+) who encounter anxiety, depression, and/or relationship problems. I can help if you feel stressed and find it hard to be the person you want to be. I consider myself an integrative therapist and use a variety of therapeutic skills and techniques to best individualize treatment. My focus is to help you to discover, or recover, your sense of purpose and vitality, to enable you to re-connect with what matters most to you and teach you ways to relate to your life experiences with skill, insight and wisdom.
