    We are pleased to announce the addition of two experienced psychotherapists, Sandy Walter, L.P.C and Crystal Shaffer, LCSW, to our team at AMHA this year in 2025!

    Sandy Walter, MS, LPC has been providing individual, family, and couples counseling to adults ages 14 and up using evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy over the past two decades. She focuses on helping clients with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, mood disorders such as depression, and marital discord. She is currently offering virtual sessions.

    Crystal Shaffer, LCSW, has also been providing individual and family psychotherapy over the past 20 years. She focuses on helping clients with issues of grief and loss, family transitions, anxiety, panic disorders and trauma. She utilizes a number of intervention models including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. She is currently offering in person sessions in our Blawnox office as well as virtual sessions.

    Both Sandy Walter, LPC and Crystal Shaffer, LCSW are very skilled and experienced in providing therapeutic interventions, crisis management, and client advocacy. They each demonstrate a strong focus on relationship building, collaborating with clients to promote their wellbeing and the achievement of healthy goals.

    AMHA is a group of mental health professionals including psychologists, social workers, and counselors, located in Pittsburgh, PA and founded in 1985. Though diverse in our training and clinical experiences, as clinicians we share a common commitment to working collaboratively with our clients to achieve the goals and personal growth that they seek. Our collective goal is to provide effective and individualized care that is based on an understanding of the diversity of the human experience, an awareness of the unique backgrounds and strengths of each of our clients, and knowledge of and expertise in treatments that have been shown to work in clinical research and practice.
